Matchstick Partners
We could not do this alone. Countless people are intimately involved in the success of our business, without actually being on our payroll.

Inner City Farms
Camil Dumont and a crew of volunteers run Inner City Farms, an urban farming enterprise founded in 2009. ICF farms multiple small parcels of land, mostly made up of front and back yards spread across the city of Vancouver. We are fortunate to have been working with Inner City Farms as a recipient of restaurant CSA shares since 2012. In this arrangement, instead of ordering specific produce as required, Matchstick pays for a subscription to ICFs production, and receives weekly deliveries based on what's in season. lt's a great way for our menu to keep evolving, and to support these young farmers In the work they do. Plus, the produce is fantastic. Were huge fans of Cam and his crew.
ICF is currently seeking not-for-profit stats.

Jagasilk
Tea served in our cafes is sent to us by Jared and Miyuki Nyberg. quality obsessives and owners of Jagasilk. Throughout the year, they travel to source the teas they offer, and won't sell anything they're not completely happy with. Thanks to their dedication, Jagasilk teas are always clean, interesting and meticulously crafted. Though based across the water in Victoria. BC, we regularly see Jared on his monthly visits to Vancouver, and when he leads periodic tea trainings for our staff. Recently Jared and Miyuki have branched out into other exciting areas Including kombucha bottling and concert hosting. We love how their passion for quality and creativity extends into all aspects of their work.

Petronilo
Petronilo married into the world of coffee farming. Becoming Aurelio's brother-in-law inevitably meant finding some common ground, and what could be more fitting than a coffee farm! His farm is a very steep, star-shaped plot, with challenging topography. However, the diverse techniques required for production in this environment also result in a diversity of flavour throughout the farm. We've been buying this coffee for over three years.

Aurelio
Aurelio is a dedicated producer with a tenacious attention to detail, and we've been buying his coffee for over three years. Alongside his auto-mechanics education, Aurelio learned about coffee farming from his father, and now manages the farm he grew up around. Aurelio has won numerous accolades for his coffee, including consecutive entries into the Cup of Excellence competition.

Paty
Paty is an amazing woman. When her father passed away a few years ago, she faced the difficult choice of either taking over the farm herself, though she had little formal training, or selling it. We're glad she chose the former. Paty now permanently resides at El Diamante, and consistently produces some of the highest quality coffee in the world. We're pleased to have been buying from her for over three years.

Cameron McKague & Dirk Wright
Every step of the way, designers Cameron McKague and Dirk Wright have helped bring our vision of Matchstick to life through creative, thoughtful design that elevates the products and people we serve. Their work is present in everything from our coffee packaging to our cup design, logo and website. We've been very fortunate to work with such collaborative designers, who take the time to listen to our vision and work to make it a reality. Website > CameronWebsite > Dirk

Onyx Coffee
Choosing green coffee partners is hugely influential for a small roaster like Matchstick. We feel fortunate to have been buying from Onyx for the entire history of our roasting operation, because we feel a camaraderie with them as small businesses with a commitment to the people whose labour makes our work meaningful. Onyx operates out of Bellingham, Washington, and imports coffee primarily from the Huehuetenango region of Guatemala. Our relationship with Onyx actually goes back years, to before either company existed. Read more about this in Vol. 1 of our newsletter.
