Our cafés are community spaces where coffee and wholesome foods set the stage for people to come together.
To see how our day-to-day operations have changed to combat COVID-19, please review our safety policies which can be found here.

Fraser
Our first home, which we opened in 2012, is a part of the small but lively strip along McAuley Park off of Vancouver's Fraser St. The community is diverse, with growing families, ceramics studios, bistros, restaurants, barbers, butchers, sewing stores, and some of the best beef jerky you've ever tasted. We love our neighbours.
Many years before we took ownership of the space, it was home to one of Vancouver's first banks. The original vault door is still in place and you can try your hand at cracking the combination lock when you visit.
This location is also where we roast all of our coffee, 5 kilos at a time, on our beautiful Giesen roaster. When you visit, head to the back of the café for a look at the operation and say hello to our roasting team. Pastries are baked in house and bread arrives fresh daily from our Chinatown location. We serve breakfast and lunch that focuses on our naturally leavened bread and seasonal BC produce.

Chinatown
Café number two opened in the spring of 2014 on the edge of Vancouver's historic Chinatown neighbourhood. Our goal of broadening our kitchen program was brought to life with this expansion. We remodeled a large concrete storage space into a full commercial kitchen, including a beautiful, 20,000lb, 4-deck Bassanina bread oven, and all the accompanying gear to move our entire food program in house. Now, our kitchen sends out a beautiful daily spread including croissants and pastries, naturally leavened bread, cookies, scones, muffins, poached eggs, seasonal jams, and house-made condiments. Chinatown has 6 taps with rotating local beers and cider; and we love the opportunity this gives us to work with our friends at BC's many breweries.
The spacious plan, and 80 seat capacity at Chinatown allow us to comfortably host meetings, parties, events, workshops, and pop-up shops. Contact us here if you're interested in bringing an event to Matchstick.

Riley Park
As of August 2016, we are happy to be open in the community of Riley Park. Located across Main St. from General Brock Elementary, the cafe is within a quick walk of Nat Bailey Stadium, the winter farmers market and Hillcrest Community Centre. Pastries are baked fresh on site each day, our bread is available for sale by the loaf, and our full menu is available for breakfast and lunch. We look forward to seeing you there!

Yaletown
Matchstick Yaletown opened in the summer of 2018. Located on the southern edge of Richards St., the cafe is just north of George Wainborn seawall, across the water from the beautiful Granville Island Market. Yaletown offers a number of different seating types to suit study sessions, business meetings, or stroller parking! Pastries are baked fresh on site each day, our bread is available for sale by the loaf, and our full menu is available for breakfast and lunch.

Davie
Our fifth cafe opened in September 2019 at the corner of Davie & Jervis. Five cafes has long been the goal for Matchstick, and we are immensely grateful to have reached this milestone. We are honoured to serve in the neighbourhoods of Fraser, Riley Park, Yaletown, Chinatown, and now the West End. At the heart of the neighbourhood, and only a short walk from Sunset Beach and English Bay, Davie features a full patio and accordion windows which can be opened and tucked away making it a truly unique cafe experience. As always, expect fresh pastries baked on site every morning, a full breakfast and lunch menu, and full or half loaves of fresh bread delivered daily from our Chinatown location.
